We perform research in a variety of areas that affect kids with all kinds of conditions. Much of our work is concentrated around four large medical areas, so we refer to them as our primary areas of research.
Through these areas, we’re working to help the children that we treat as well as kids everywhere.
Asthma & Cystic Fibrosis
ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Children's is working to help improve the lives of millions of children who struggle to breathe. Our work in asthma and cystic fibrosis (CF) is concentrated in pharmacogenetics and translational research, and in lung research. We participate in numerous studies and pediatric clinical trials of new medicines and therapies to help children with asthma and cystic fibrosis breathe — and live — better.
Cancer Biomarkers & Therapeutics
The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Center for Childhood Cancer Research (NCCCR) combines the research we perform with the medical care we give. Our overarching goal is to achieve a 100 percent cure rate of childhood cancers — and with minimal side effects. Our center is a place where scientists, doctors, patients, families and the community can come together to improve children’s health.
Diabetes & Obesity
The Center for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Disorders is a comprehensive research program at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½. Our work is closely linked with both the care we deliver and the health education regarding obesity we extend to the children we treat and our community. We conduct studies of our own, and participate in national and international multicenter collaborative studies.
Emergency Medicine Research
Our research aims to enhance pediatric care in emergency settings. We are part of a national network conducting impactful, multi-site research studies. Our team furthers quality initiatives and innovative strategies to benefit children everywhere.
Neurodevelopmental & Musculoskeletal Disease
ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ is an international leader in research on neurodevelopmental and musculoskeletal (orthopedic) disorders in children. We have several world-class pediatric labs in the Delaware Valley and Florida working to help children with musculoskeletal diseases like skeletal dysplasia, scoliosis, cerebral palsy and more.
